Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Ant-Man and the Wasp is the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and like all other movies from Marvel Studios, it has at least one post-credits scene that will keep fans in their seats until the lights come back on. Post-credits scenes have always been around in cinema, but Marvel took the concept to the next level by teasing sequels and future installments in the overarching shared universe. That much was true for Peyton Reed’s first Ant-Man movie that released in 2015.

For those may not remember, Ant-Man had two post-credits scenes. One scene teased Evangeline Lilly’s introduction as the Wasp in an Ant-Man sequel - which became the impetus for this year’s Ant-Man and the Wasp - with Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym showing Hope van Dyne her new Wasp costume. Another scene was simply a snippet taken out from Anthony and Joe Russo’s Captain America: Civil War, in which Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson find Bucky Barnes. The scene also teased Ant-Man’s involvement in that film. But since it wasn’t anything original, it’s considered one of the MCU’s worst post-credits scenes so far. Can the same be said for Ant-Man 2’s end-credits scenes?

Ant-Man and the Wasp has two post-credits scenes like most Marvel Studios movies, of which one teases Scott Lang’s future as Ant-Man as well as how the sequel connects to the Russos’ Avengers: Infinity War, whereas the other mostly shows off the aftermath of the first scene while also playing for comedic effect. The thing is, are they worth waiting for? Yes… and no.

The mid-credits scene, which is played right before the actual credits start rolling, is certainly worth waiting for seeing as it’s the only sequence that connects Ant-Man and the Wasp to Avengers: Infinity War, something that Paul Rudd accidentally spoiled prior to the film’s release. However, the post-credits scene is not worth waiting for since it doesn’t offer up anything new, and what it tries to do - somewhat depict the aftermath of Thanos’ snap - isn’t conveyed properly. What’s more, a part of that scene was not only revealed in the film’s trailers, but a similar scene was shown early on in the movie as well.

In the end, though, MCU fans will want to stay to the very end to see everything that the studio has included in the movie, while non-MCU fans (and general moviegoers) will leave right when the film ends. There’s nothing wrong with either option, but those who want to see where this movie falls in the giant spectrum of the MCU will want to see at least the mid-credits scene.
