Apple has always provided a dedicated press page for journalists where you could get the latest press releases and .TIF images for our reports. However with journalism changing to a more social endeavor, Apple today launched Apple Newsroom which is a much more Social and blogger friendly format for sharing news articles. Each newsroom post has a link shortener, Twitter, Facebook and direct email links and many more inline media and images than the previous Press pages....

Apple and Barclaycard have ended the Barclaycard Apple Rewards card in the last few weeks, as it readies the Apple Card launch with Goldman Sachs. Apple now only offers basic financing plans with Barclaycard. Bloomberg reports that the Apple Card terms allow for Apple to offer special financing plans for specific purchases. The publication also says that Apple is preparing to debut an Apple Card companion app for the iPad, to allow users to sign up and manage their card from their Apple tablet in addition to the iPhone....

AppleCare+ has been quietly upgraded today, following the announcement of the iPhone 14. Previously, AppleCare+ allowed for two incidents of accidental damage cover every year. Starting today, that cap has been lifted. Apple now touts unlimited repairs for accidental damage protection, for as long as you keep paying. Unless you are really clumsy, you probably wouldn’t exceed two repairs per year anyway. However, it’s nice to have that peace of mind of unlimited repairs, without incurring additional charges....

Following an expansion to Europe earlier this month, Apple has made another improvement to its self-service repair program. As reported by Six Colors, Apple’s self-service repair program now supports Mac desktops as well as the Studio Display, but only in the United States. With today’s expansion, the self-service repair program now offers genuine Apple parts, tools, and manuals for the M1 iMac, M1 Mac mini, and Mac Studio. The Studio Display is also included in this expansion....

Early next month, the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization will present Apple CEO Tim Cook with its 2015 Ripple of Hope Award honoring leaders in commitment to social change. Cook has described RFK as a personal hero on multiple occasions over the years. The Apple chief is being honored with the award alongside Congressman John Lewis, Evercore co-founder Roger Altman; and UNESCO Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyannis. The Robert F. Apple has today been granted a patent for a graphical display concept it calls virtual paper, and two things struck me about it – one about its origins, the other about what it may tell us about future Apple design language. The patent is for a visual representation of paper in three-dimensional form, which is, of course, the type of user interface most applicable to the upcoming Apple mixed-reality headset …...

Apple revealed this morning that nearly 20 billions apps were downloaded in 2012, excluding re-downloads and updates, bringing the total number of App Store downloads to 40 billion. The announcement also noted a record-breaking 2 billion downloads during the month of December. Furthermore, there are more than 500 million active App Store accounts, over 775,000 apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users worldwide, including roughly 300,000 native iPad apps, and customers in about 155 countries around the globe can find apps in 23 refined categories like games, business, news, etc....

Apple will be releasing a software update to fix the camera shake / rattling issue affecting iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. Apple told Bloomberg that the update will be available next week. This will resolve customer concerns that the violent camera shake problems may have been a result of a hardware defect with their new phones. Instead, users should be able to simply install the software update when it is available....

We learned last month that Apple’s upcoming Mac Pro will be manufactured in China. While the news wasn’t surprising, the move is a shift from the current Mac Pro that’s been assembled in the US since its debut in 2013. Mayo Clinic is working on an algorithm that analyzes data from electrocardiograms recorded on Apple Watches. This algorithm will be able to detect a weak heart pump straight from these EKG tests. This could possibly detect life-threatening conditions earlier in users, without being in a medical setting. Reported by STAT, this algorithm was presented at the Heart Rhythm Society conference in San Francisco. The study found that the algorithm accurately detected weak heart pumps in a small number of patients....

Apple has slowly been cracking down on 32-bit iOS apps, but it appears that it will make a drastic change come this fall. According to prominent developer Steven Troughton-Smith, Apple will drop support for 32-bit apps altogether with iOS 11. This means that many legacy apps will no longer function at all. While the specific source of this tidbit of information is unclear at this point, Smith says that he’s hearing “very clearly” that it is a move Apple will make....
