A slew of new Apple Watch bands have been revealed today as the Apple Watch Series 4 was unveiled at Apple Park. The latest choices include a variety of new colors, including a new gold Milanese loop. The most recent release was the Pride Edition Woven Nylon band that Apple debuted back in June at WWDC. Before that Apple offered up a spring collection back in March. Today’s releases include a mix of new colors of bands and styles that work with the new 40mm and 44mm Series 4 Apple Watches as well as all previous Apple Watch generations....

Apple has seeded two software upgrades for OS X Mavericks internally, according to a source with knowledge of the upcoming updates. This person says that the updates are labeled as OS X 10.9.1 and OS X 10.9.2. The first update is expected to be released later this month, and it will serve as an update to squash bugs that accompanied the OS X 10.9.0 release of Mavericks last month. Many users have complained about issues relating to the Mail and iBooks applications, and Apple is preparing to release individual bug-fix updates for those apps in the coming days…...

Apple continues to expand its health efforts with another Apple Watch and iPhone study. CNBC reports that Apple has teamed up with Eli Lilly to study whether the Apple Watch and iPhone can be effectively used to spot early signs of dementia. Research published this week shows that Apple and Eli Lilly have been working with the health startup Evidation “to find ways to more quickly and precisely detect cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease with the help of popular consumer gadgets....

According to a report from German language blog iFun, Apple is preparing to release iOS 6.1.2 early next week to address the much talked about Microsoft Exchange bug and passcode vulnerability. Apple already confirmed that both issues would be fixed in an upcoming software update, but iFun confirmed the update would land sometime before Feb. 21 based on its checks with carriers. iFun accurately predicted the launch of iOS 6.1.1 through the same sources earlier this month....

Apple agreed to pay a $5 million settlement to Taiwanese touch chip and module maker Elan Microelectronics Corp that will provide both companies with access to each other’s patents and end ongoing patent infringement cases, according to a report from Reuters. Taiwan-based Elan Microelectronics Corp originally sued Apple in 2009 claiming Apple infringed on their multitouch patents with the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, MacBook, and Magic Mouse. Elan was originally seeking bans on the products in the United States....

Apple just reported a monster earnings release for the third fiscal quarter of 2021, with $81.43 billion in revenue, up 36 percent year over year, and profit of $21.74 billion. Looking ahead to Q4 2021, however, Apple cautioned that supply constraints are likely to impact the iPhone and iPad in particular… During Apple’s earnings call with analysts today, CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri addressed supply constraints that could impact Apple during Q4 2021....

Apple first shared its plans for a new flagship Apple Store in Milan back in May of last year. The company said then that the store will sit beneath an amphitheater, and you’ll enter it using a staircase that descends through the middle of a fountain. A local report now says that there will be a two-stage opening next month, and explains the reason for the delay … Corriere della Sera reports that the site will open on Wednesday July 18....

Delays delivering those white iPhone 4 models may be related to light leakage problems, according to Scott Moritz at The Street.“Apparently, the back light from the iPhone display screen is leaking out around the edges of the glass and seeping through the back of the white phone, according to a person familiar with the manufacturing process,” he writes.Apple last week said the white models were proving to be, “more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected....

Apple has now released macOS Monterey beta 9 for developers. As we move closer to a fall release, the big feature we haven’t seen fully available to test is Universal Control and we’ll be looking to see if it has been finally enabled in the ninth beta. Apple and the World Wildlife Fund are partnering for a special Earth Day promotion at the Apple Store. Starting today, Apple will donate $1 to the World Wildlife Fund for every purchase made in stores with Apple Pay. To participate, simply visit an Apple retail location and purchase any item and pay with Apple Pay from any Apple Watch or compatible iPhone. (Note that the donation amount is based on the purchase alone, not how much the purchase is worth, so a $10 adapter has the same value for the fund as a $4000 Mac Pro....

Fifty million dollars is how much Apple has agreed to pay to settle a class-action lawsuit by customers of MacBooks with faulty keyboards. They claim Apple “knew and concealed” that the butterfly keyboards on its MacBook were prone to failure. According to Reuters, the preliminary settlement was filled yesterday in the federal court in San Jose, California, and requires a judge to approve. The company tried for three generations to fix the faulty keyboards, although all of them presented the same issue....

Ahead of Apple’s WWDC in June and an expected Apple TV refresh, shipping times for its current generation Apple TV have just slipped from in stock to 1-2 weeks. Apple’s estimates for shipping Apple TV from its online store often jump between being “in stock” and “1 day”, but a longer delay in shipping could signal Apple’s intent to introduce a refreshed Apple TV in the near future. We reported earlier this year that Apple’s work on a next-generation Apple TV product continued including slimmer hardware, a new tactile remote, and a redesigned operating system with App Store-like functionality....

Last week, we reported that criminals in Brazil are stealing people’s iPhones to access bank accounts. Now, Procon-SP, the Brazilian consumer protection regulator based in São Paulo state, said banks are promising to create emergency centers to fight this kind of criminal activity, and Apple and Google are committed to making it easier to erase people’s stolen smartphone. According to a new report by Brazilian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, in a meeting with mobile carriers and banks, they committed to Procon-SP to create emergency centers to block phone accounts after a smartphone is stolen....
