We reported earlier this month on the quaint habit of iPhone purchasing for a profit all across London, as various folk pick up units to send into the lucrative Chinese grey market for the device — today we learn that Apple had to close its Beijing Apple store yesterday because grey market buyers were sucking all the store’s supply. Seems that Apple bumped up the sales limit on iPhone 4 from two to unlimited in Beijing’s flagship store, drawing an immediate huge crowd of eager customers — but these folks were buying iPhones in large quantities to resell on the grey market, which caused such a commotion security eventually shut AAPL’s flagship Chinese store down....

Two more of Apple’s smaller mall locations are set to relocate to significantly larger spaces this year, according to a document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Both stores are due for renovations, having retained largely original appearances since opening in 2007. Speculation about Apple’s expansion in Lehigh Valley first began this past March, when the closure of both Ann Taylor and J. Crew locations adjacent to Apple’s storefront were announced....

Apple is apparently taking legal action against a company called Prepear, which is an app and service that makes it easier for people to meal plan and find new recipes. Apple’s legal complaint? The pear-shaped logo used by Prepear, seen above, is too similar to the Apple logo. According to the founders of Prepear, which is a spin-off of the Super Healthy Kids service, Apple is opposing the trademark application for Prepear and demanding that the company change the pear-shaped logo....

As part of a deal announced earlier this year with parent company Comcast, Sky satellite TV customers will soon have access to the Apple TV+ app through their Sky Q set-top box. The app experience on Sky is the version of the TV app that is stripped down to only offer TV+ originals, as we have previously seen appear on older Samsung and LG smart TVs. This means customers can stream Apple TV+ shows and movies, but access to other Apple TV Channels or iTunes Store content is not possible....

But the repercussions of the controversial slap were not good for Will Smith, as Apple TV+ reportedly dropped bids for the actor’s biopic. Apple TV+ is set to launch three separate new docuseries over the coming months with “Tiny World” narrated by Paul Rudd, “Becoming You” narrated by Olivia Colman, and “Earth at Night in Color” narrated by Tom Hiddleston. Reported by Variety, the new nature-focused Apple TV+ docuseries narrated Paul Rudd will debut on October 2. “Becoming You” will also launch with six episodes when it lands on November 3. “Tiny World,” narrated by Paul Rudd, premieres its first six episodes the streaming platform on Oct....

Apple will not receive follow-on revenue from most of its new telecom partners according to SEC filing Form 8-K for APPLE IN. This is a very interesting development for several reasons. It means that Apple is stuck in their original agreements with AT&T, O2, Orange, Tmobile, etc. It also means that the old model wasn’t optimal for Apple and it is going for a new model where it is no longer taking a cut of monthly revenues....

Apple on Tuesday sent a reminder to developers about an upcoming change in the requirements for submitting apps to the App Store. Starting April 25, 2022, all apps created for Apple’s platforms must be built with Xcode 13 – the latest version of the SDK available. As noted by the company, Xcode 13 includes the SDKs for the latest versions of its operating systems, which includes iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, and macOS Monterey....

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II plays Black Manta in the upcoming DCEU movie Aquaman, and he’s happy with the footage he’s seen so far. Directed by James Wan, Jason Momoa’s first standalone film as the half-Atlantean, half-human will tackle the politics and royal family issues that currently plague Atlantis. Aquaman still has quite a ways to go before hitting theaters. After wrapping up production last October, Wan has been busy in post-production on the film....

MacRumors reports that Apple has a new 15 inch notebook with an ultra-thin design in its final testing stage. It’s difficult to tell if Apple will be marketing this 15 inch notebook as an extension of the popular MacBook Air line, or if it is a piece of Apple’s redesigned MacBook Pro line. Although the machine is reportedly in final testing, there is no word on a release date. The last MacBook Pro update came in late February, so we would expect the new models to ship later this year or very early next year....

Apple just released its Q1 2016 earnings, reporting “record” results of $75.9 billion in revenue and $18.4 billion in profit. In addition to its normal data, however, Apple has shared a new figure relating to the number of active devices it has in the wild. Apple says that it now has an active installed base of 1 billion devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. Apple says it gathered this data by tracking the devices that have been engaged with its services within the last 90 days....

Apple has scheduled its next Apple Watch Activity Challenge, this time for Thanksgiving later this month. The challenge encourages Apple Watch users to complete a workout of at least 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in length on November 26. You can earn this award by completing any walk, run, or wheelchair workout of at least 5K in distance. If you complete the challenge, Apple will reward you with exclusive badges in the Activity app, as well as stickers for use in Messages and FaceTime....

As it continues to refocus its strategy in India, Apple has reportedly stopped selling the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 6s Plus in the country. This comes as Apple is reportedly shifting its plan in the country to focus on newer and more expensive iPhones. According to The Economic Times, Apple is now focusing on increasing its revenue from India, as opposed to increasing iPhone volume. Apple’s distributors in India have reportedly informed retailers that the new “entry level” iPhone will be the iPhone 6s....

Apple updated its support site today to give customers the option to initiate screensharing sessions with AppleCare representatives. Previously AppleCare reps could ask a customer to begin screensharing if they thought it would be useful in helping solve the issue, but as of today customers can now decide whether to use the utility during support calls. Customers have always been able to request screensharing, at which point the AppleCare representative would instruct them to download an application from Apple’s site that facilitates the connection....

During the “Peek Performance” event, Apple announced Friday Night Baseball would be coming to Apple TV+. With MLB games starting this Friday, the company finally unveiled its production details and broadcast team. In addition, new exclusive programs such as Countdown to First Pitch and MLB Daily Recap are also coming to the streaming service. According to Apple, beginning tomorrow, the broadcast team of Melanie Newman (play-by-play), Chris Young (analyst), Hannah Keyser (analyst), and Brooke Fletcher (reporter) will call the New York Mets at the Washington Nationals at 7 p....

Apple TV+ today announced that the service’s animated musical series Central Park will be getting a third season. The second season of the cartoon will debut on June 25. The first three episodes of Central Park season two will arrive on Apple TV+ on June 25, with the remainder of the season rolling out weekly. A release date for season three has not yet been announced. As it is a musical, each episode of Central Park features three or four original songs....

Apple TV+ today announced a new documentary special airing later this year. The show is entitled ‘9/11: Inside the President’s War Room’ and will explore the 2001 terrorist attack from the perspective of the immediate response of the people in charge. The special will be narrated by Jeff Daniels and include testimony from ex-President George Bush, Dick Cheney, and more. In a notable move for the streaming service, the special will premiere simultaneously on Apple TV+ and on the publicly-funded broadcast channel BBC One....
