Three weeks after it released iOS 6 beta 2, Apple has unleashed a third-beta of the next-generation version of iOS to developers. The new beta is currently available as an over-the-air update to those running iOS 6 beta 2, and the new version should be hitting Apple’s iOS Developer Center shortly. It is unclear what changes this new beta holds, but they likely revolve around bug fixes and performance enhancements. We’ll be going through this new beta and will update with anything new that we find....

During its Platforms State of the Union presentation at WWDC yesterday, Apple showed off more features for developers that didn’t make the cut for its publicly streamed keynote event. One announcement made for developers is a redesigned version of iTunes Connect— the web app developers use to upload and maintain content on the App Store. On top of a redesigned interface pictured above, Apple has revamped the dashboard with more info for developers about apps and a new analytics feature that provides data points like how many users visited store pages, how many users went onto purchase an app, and how many remained active over time....

Here’s news for all you socialites out there — it appears Apple and Facebook chatted for over a year before the launch of Ping, and the talks gave us … nothing. Recall when Apple boss Steve Jobs says Facebook demanded “onerous” terms? Next week, Apple TV+ series ‘The Oprah Conversation’ will feature an interview between Oprah Winfrey and former president Barack Obama. The discussion will revolve around Obama’s upcoming memoir, ‘A Promised Land’. The episode will debut on November 17th at 9AM Eastern Time, the same day as the book’s release. Apple TV+ will be streaming the episode for free, so anyone can watch if they have access to the TV app — no subscription required....

Alongside the new AirPods 3, Apple also announced that the AirPods Pro now comes with a MagSafe Charging Case. With that, it’s easier to charge your AirPods Pro when connected to the MagSafe charger. Previously, if you tried to charge the AirPods with a MagSafe accessory, it would work but the earbuds wouldn’t be fully attached. Now, this new MagSafe Charging Case makes sure the AirPods Pro attaches the same way the iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 do when connected to a MagSafe charger....

Apple’s next Apple Watch Activity Challenge is officially on the calendar. The company has scheduled its next Activity Challenge for International Women’s Day, which is next week on March 8. This challenge requires users to complete a workout of any category for at least 20 minutes. You’ll then unlock stickers that can be used in the Messages app, FaceTime, and more. With next week’s Apple Watch event fast approaching, Apple has revealed its retail selling strategies to employees, including a focus on “three key features” and a plan to encourage Watch customers to upgrade or switch to new iPhones. According to selling guidelines provided by sources within Apple Retail, Apple believes that “many customers have already decided they want an Apple Watch,” and will use the Watch to “position the benefits” of purchasing a compatible iPhone model....

GPNE Corp, a Honolulu company that licenses technology patents, took Apple to court recently over a few patents the company claimed were violated in several of Apple’s iOS products. The technology in question was originally patented for pagers (remember those? yeah, me neither) and the patents have since expired. Apple regularly takes on so-called “patent trolls” looking to profit from technology patents for widely used tech, but it’s not every day the company comes out and calls a spade a spade....

A new report filed by Reuters points out Apple’s favorability among top “green” mutual funds as the Cupertino company continues to improve its environmental report card. The report cites Apple as the top holding by the Parnassus fund, Calvert Equity Portfolio, and Green Century Balanced Fund, and says Apple is the third-largest holding in the Pax World Balanced Fund. Apple has increasingly bolstered its environmental track record in recent years. Probably most notable, though, is something Cook said at a recent shareholder meeting: “If you want me to do things only for ROI reasons, you should get out of this stock....

After officially announcing that WWDC would take place June 13th through June 17th in April, Apple today has officially invited members of the press to its kickoff keynote address. The keynote will take place on June 13th at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Like usual, the keynote will commence at 10AM PT/ 1PM ET (via TechInsider). This year’s keynote is slightly different from those of previous years as it is being held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium....

Apple today introduced a new redesigned iMac with the M1 chip, but there’s also another Mac that received an upgrade after the special “Spring Loaded” event. The company has quietly updated the M1 Mac mini with an optional 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, which was previously only available on the Intel version of the Mac mini. When customizing a M1 Mac mini on Apple’s online store, customers can now order the computer with a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port, which is faster than the traditional Gigabit Ethernet port....

Update: Apple Store is back. Users can now pre-order iPhone SE 3, green iPhone 13, and M1 iPad Air 5. After its first event of the year on Tuesday, Apple will start selling its first batch of products later this morning. Until then, the Apple Online Store is down for anyone that tries to make a purchase. The Apple Store will be back at 5 a.m. PST. When it opens, customers across the globe will be able to purchase the new iPhone SE 3, the green color iPhone 13 and alpine green iPhone 13 Pro, as well as the M1 iPad Air 5....

Today it was revealed that for the holiday season Google will be giving its employees a Nexus 5 or a Nexus 7. In past years, Apple has not given its retail employees a significant gift for the holiday, though employees have been given hoodies. The first gift to Apple Retail Employees was $10 off of a $50 iTunes gift card. This isn’t something to brag about considering a lot of stores offer this promotion frequently....

Two Apple suppliers in India have been selected to receive manufacturing incentives, which are likely to be used for iPad production in the country. The scheme is known as a production-linked incentive (PLI) plan. Foxconn and Wistron were among the companies to qualify for cash-back deals in return for boosting their manufacturing operations in the country … Background We previously explained the background leading up to the award. Digitimes this morning is reporting that Foxconn (aka, Hon Hai Precision) has won the manufacturing contract, rather than Apple’s long-term Mac maker, Quanta. This figures as Foxconn is also Apple’s iPod/iPhone product manufacturer, and suggests at least that this tablet will be a larger sibling in that side of the Apple family. (Recall, there have been some claims of two tablets on Apple’s road map, one running OS X, the other running a variant of the OS X Mobile found on iPhones and the iPhone touch)....

The Apple TV+ streaming service is launching this fall, with original shows in tow. It’s been just over a decade since Apple first took steps to incorporate their Apple TV concept into their already diverse and highly popular line of personal electronics. Though originally intended to join the company’s other “i”-based products as iTV, the name was changed to Apple TV shortly after being unveiled, as a result of legal threats from UK broadcast network ITV....

A woman was saved by her Apple Watch from sexual assault by a man who broke into her apartment… The Calgary Herald reports that the man admitted his intention after the woman used her Apple Watch to text her boyfriend to ask him to call the police. Police arrived in time to save her. Macindoe admitted to copying the woman’s building swipe card and apartment key to gain access. John Joseph Macindoe pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including break and enter with intent to commit sexual assault, in connection with incidents last spring....

The Apple Watch Series 6 packs several notable changes to its internal design, as detailed in a new teardown from iFixit. The teardown highlights the removal of Force Touch, as well as a slightly larger battery, thinner design, and more. With the first beta of watchOS 7 back in June, Apple dropped support for the pressure-sensitive Force Touch feature, all but confirming that the hardware for the feature would be removed with the Apple Watch Series 6....
