Apple’s entry price for its upcoming smaller iPad is between the base model of the new, fifth-generation iPod touch ($299) and the currently shipping WiFi-only 16GB iPad 2 ($399). According to our sources, the base model of the smaller iPad will likely be priced at a minimum of $329 in the United States. Two higher capacities of the smaller iPad will be available in the WiFi-only configuration. These will likely be priced at $100 premiums over each other at a minimum of $429 and $529....

Apple’s USB-C chargers have caused significant confusion over what they can and can’t power. For example, the 29W power brick can’t charge the MagSafe Duo, despite it drawing only 15W. Similarly, the 18W charger supplied with last year’s iPhone 11 Pro couldn’t – initially – charge the HomePod mini … Apple solved the latter problem last week with a software update, in version 14.3. Apple has commented on the decision to limit the new MacBook Pro’s RAM to a maximum 16GB, informing a customer in an email that offering more would make for a compromised experience. Specifically, Apple says that more than 16GB of RAM “at this time would require a memory system that consumes much more power and wouldn’t be efficient enough for a notebook.” To put more than 16GB of fast RAM into a notebook design at this time would require a memory system that consumes much more power and wouldn’t be efficient enough for a notebook....

Apple has announced it is holding its earnings call for company results in fiscal Q4 (covering July, August and September) on October 20th. Apple has announced that it will power all of its operations in Singapore from solar energy, the first company in the city-state to do so. The scheme will also provide electricity to around 9,000 public-owned homes. CNET reports that Apple is partnering with local clean energy provide Sunseap. Apple TV+ original productions continue to receive critical acclaim. Apple’s streaming platform for movies and TV shows was nominated today for 19 Daytime Emmy Awards, in addition to the previously announced six nominations, resulting in 25 nominations this year. A large number of Brits using Apple TV to watch the Euro 2021 semi-final found that the livestream was interrupted by a problem with the ITV Hub app. ITV was the only channel showing the match, meaning there was no other option available to those whose viewing was affected. Apple announced Tap to Pay feature in February. The function, which is supported starting with iOS 15.4, allows businesses to use their iPhones to “seamlessly and securely” accept Apple Pay payments with a simple tap. Now, global financial technology platform Adyen announced it will offer Tap to Pay to its customers later this year. In the midst of the holiday season, Apple has released yet another festive ad. This one focuses on Group FaceTime, which the company recently released for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac in iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1, and macOS 10.14.1. The one minute clip demos being able to make a Group FaceTime video call with up to 32 people. It features actors playing Elvis Presley and uses the song There’s Always Me by Elvis....
