Apple has released the fourth beta of its iOS 9.3.2 update to both developers and public beta testers today. OS X El Capitan 10.11.5 and tvOS 9.2.1 also saw a fourth beta release for developers today. The latest developer and public betas haven’t seen any major changes as it appears they are turning out to be more bug fix releases than anything. Simultaneous use of Low Power Mode and Night Shift had been reactivated as of iOS 9....

Apple has published a new beta build of the upcoming OS X 10.10.5 to developers. The third seed, which has a build number of 14F25a, comes just under a week after the previous build. The 10.10.5 update seems to be a simple stability and security fix, so there aren’t many new features to speak of. OS X 10.10.5 beta 3 is available through the Updates tab of the Mac App Store for those already running a previous build, and should hit the Developer Center soon....

Apple senior vice president of internet software and services, Eddy Cue, just joined the Duke University board of trustees alongside six new members. As spotted by AppleInsider (via Today Duke), Apple’s Eddy Cue joined the Duke University board of trustees by the beginning of July with Michael J. Bingle, vice chairman of Silver Lake Group; Nancy-Ann DeParle, managing partner and cofounder of Consonance Capital Partners; and Grant H. Hill, basketball hall of fame and founder of Hill Ventures....

Apple Retail Stores are constantly used to promote Apple TV+ shows and movies, however, the company has now taken a more aggressive (and fun) approach. Some of the most popular Apple TV+ shows such as Severance and Ted Lasso have now come to life at The Grove Apple Store. The promoted shows are The Afterparty, Schmigadoon!, Pachinko, Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, WeCrashed, and Severance. Each pop-up has features related to the shows....

Apple just released the Apple TV+ Friday Night Baseball schedule for July. The best part is that the Major League Baseball games will remain available to watch for free for another month. Here’s the schedule. As Apple has been doing, the game assignments for Friday Night Baseball broadcasters will be announced on a weekly basis. The show will keep with live pre and postgame coverage hosted by Lauren Gardner, along with a rotating group of analysts and former MLB players, including Carlos Peña, Cliff Floyd, and Yonder Alonso, and former MLB umpire Brian Gorman will continue to offer rules analysis and interpretation....

Apple just released the latest software update for both the second-generation and third-generation of the Apple TV, version 5.0.1 (9B206f). As of now, we are not sure if there is anything in this update past bug fixes, but we will be sure to let you know the moment we find something (update below). Last year’s Epic Games versus Apple ruling left both sides unhappy with the result, each filing its own appeal. An appeals hearing took place on Monday, and the intention and effect of the Apple ecosystem – aka the “Apple walled garden” – was the core issue debated. Apple made the case that the ecosystem is designed to keep iPhone users safe from malware and scams, while Epic argued that the iPhone maker is simply afraid of competition …...

Just (barely) in time for the holidays, Walmart.com now carries the Apple Watch Sport in a variety of colors –as long as it is either space gray or silver. The US’s largest retailer won’t carry the Watch in stores and currently the price for the Sport is the non-discounted $349-399 retail which is $100 more than Best Buy and bestbuy.com where it starts at just $249. Best Buy, Target, B&H and others have been offering steep discounts on the Apple Watch sparking speculation that Apple is aggressively trying to move inventory for the holidays....

UPDATE: Apple’s site has reverted to the current icons present in iOS 7 beta. Apple has quietly changed some of the icons on its official iOS 7 website, making notable changes to the Weather, Passbook, and Reminders apps. iOS 7’s icons, which have been subject to much scrutiny and disapproval from various designers, have been one of the largest complaints about iOS 7 so far. The icons, which can currently only be viewed on Apple’s site using a mobile device, most notably show a completely redesigned weather app icon, ditching the clouds and sun found in the current iOS 7 beta, in favor of the live temperature, something users have been waiting for for years....

After spending its first three weekends in release atop the U.S. box office, Aquaman has finally been dethroned from its number one position domestically by one of the weekend’s new releases, STXFilm’s The Upside. Hitting theaters just a year after the Justice League was seen as a general disaster, Aquaman has already passed $1 billion at the worldwide box office and has become the new DC Extended Universe standard for commercial success....

UPDATE: Read everything revealed by the Aquaman set visit reports. The upcoming Aquaman movie will include a flashback scene where a young Arthur Curry discovers that he has the power to talk to fish. The latest installment in the unofficially titled DC Extended Universe is due to launch its highly anticipated first trailer later this week at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Considered by many to be one of the most useless superpowers possible, Aquaman’s so-called “aqua-telepathy” has made him the butt of many a joke from professional comedians and casual comic book fans alike....

Apple kicked off its Apple Watch showcase today at Milan’s Salone Del Mobile Design Fair in Italy and on hand at the event were Apple executives including marketing chief Phil Schiller and designer Marc Newson. We learned earlier this week that Apple planned to showcase the Watch at the event in Milan today, although Italy is not included in the initial 9 launch countries and availability for the region has not yet been announced....

Apple has said that the random shutdowns plaguing some iPhone 6s models may be more widespread than it first believed. Apple initially said that it found that battery components in a particular batch of iPhones were exposed to the air for too long before assembly, causing the batteries to cut out. It has now updated its statement to say that some customers with phones from outside this batch have also experienced shutdowns, and that it will be issuing an iOS update to help track down the cause …...

Apple’s SVP of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller has tweeted that November has set an all-time record for App Store sales. November 2016 was a record breaker for the #AppStore – the highest monthly sales ever in App Store history! — Philip Schiller (@pschiller) December 7, 2016 Schiller didn’t give any numbers for either sales or downloads. The holiday season usually sees the highest sales of the year, Apple announcing back in January that it had achieved more than $1....

Apple announced on Tuesday that it will release its earnings report for the fiscal second quarter of 2022 on Thursday, April 28. As usual, the company will release its Q2 2022 earnings report then hold a conference call with investors and analysts to provide more details about the results. Last quarter, Apple reported a revenue record of $123.95 billion, up 11% year over year. The company reported profit of $34.6 billion and earnings per share of $2....

As promised two days ago, Apple is now contacting developers who applied for expedited Apple Watch shipments, notifying them that they’ve either won or lost the random selection process. Selected developers are now entitled “to place an expedited order for one (1) Apple Watch Sport that’s guaranteed to ship by April 28, 2015” paying full price for the Watch and, if chosen, AppleCare. Developers have until 5:00pm “local time” on April 27 to complete their orders....

Apple settled out of court in the latest e-books price-fixing suit brought against the company, allowing the company to dodge an $840 million bullet, as reported by Bloomberg. The case, brought against the Cupertino company by multiple states and consumers, was set to go before a jury next month, but that will no longer be necessary. The terms of the settlement have not yet been revealed, and the opposing sides of the case have one month to request formal acceptable of their agreement by the court....

Apple today released an update to its mobile presentation software that enables support for an Apple Watch-based remote application. The Keynote Remote app, which will allow users to control their slides from their wrists, was first mentioned during Apple’s October 2014 event. The Cupertino company also pushed out updates to several of its other mobile apps, fixing bugs and improving stability. The updated apps include Pages, Numbers, Remote, and Beats Music....

Apple has long marketed the Apple Watch as a health device and today we’re seeing yet another instance of the device being put to good use. 28-year-old Apple Watch user James Green tweeted over the weekend that the “stupid lil wrist computer” saved his life. Using the third-party application HeartWatch, Green was alerted of an abnormally high heart rate that prompted him to seek medical attention. The app monitors heart rate constantly throughout the day and sends a notification if it goes below or above a certain threshold....
