This is not the first time an Apple patent has surfaced relating to three-dimensional camera technologies. A previous patent highlighted advanced 3D object recognition and verification. There are more than a few apps and updates today worth mentioning, starting with the latest update for the recently launched Tweetbot for Mac Alpha: Tweetbot Alpha 3: After rolling out a huge update a couple of days ago for notifications, keyboard shortcuts and other performance enhancements, Tweetbot Alpha 3 is officially available for download/update today. Aside from all of the story and character complaints, there has been a consensus that the look and visuals in both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman have been consistently strong throughout. I love iCloud Drive. I love how integrated it is into macOS and iOS, and I long ago moved most of my documents away from Dropbox (except for Shared Folders). I am always looking for new ways to back up my photos, though. Since I keep an active Microsoft Office subscription, I thought I would use the 1TB of storage as another place to upload my photos. iPhone and Apple Watch users in Colorado can now store their driver’s license or state ID in the Apple Wallet application. Apple today officially unveiled an all-new Apple Watch and now it has revealed pricing and availability information. Apple Watch Series 3 will be available for pre-order on September 15th, with availability starting September 22nd. The Apple Watch Series 3 without LTE starts at $329, while the LTE model starts at $399. Specific pricing per the various Apple Watch models is unclear at this point. Jason Momoa, star of Aquaman, recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, throwing axes to raise money for charity. Apple has announced that its retail stores in Orland Park, Illinois and Irvine, California will relocate to larger and more modern storefronts this upcoming Saturday, August 18th. Former Facebook privacy and policy employee Sandy Parakilas has been hired by Apple, according to a report by The Financial Times. Parakilas left Facebook six years ago following less than a year and a half with the company after his user privacy concerns fell on deaf ears internally. In March of 2018, Parakilas testified in front of UK Parliament on privacy concerns surrounding Facebook and the data they collect. Following Parakilas’ departure from the social media giant, he later took jobs at Uber and the Center for Humane Technology — an organization devoted to regulation for tech giants....

Apple TV+ is developing a limited series based on the story of WeWork, according to a new report from Variety. The series comes from Lee Eisenberg and Drew Crevello, and is based on the Wondery podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork.” This will be the second Apple TV+ original from Eisenberg, who created the well-reviewed show Little America and inked an overall deal with Apple last month. Eisenberg is also well-known for his work on The Office....

Apple TV+ has scooped its first major awards win tonight. Billy Crudup won the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series Critics Choice Award, for his performance as Cory Ellison in The Morning Show. In this year’s Critics Choice awards, Apple’s streaming service only got one nomination but it converted that into a win today. Crudup edged out competition from the likes of Asante Blackk (This Is Us), Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen)....

Apple has pushed out several new content channels across many countries to the Apple TV, as noted by several readers. Here’s the breakdown of the new channels across the world: Viaplay has been added to the Apple TV in Scandinavia (which is comprised of Denmark, Sweden, Norway) and Finland. Viaplay is comprised of local sports content, films, and TV shows. Stan has been added in Australia, and it contains localized TV shows, films, and content for kids....

Warner Bros. recently announced plans to develop an Aquaman spinoff, tentatively titled The Trench. As the name suggests, the film will focus on the Trench, a race of sea creatures that feature rather minimally in Aquaman, but leave a lasting impression. This comes courtesy of the incredible practical and digital effects that brought The Trench to life on the big screen. In comics, this race of creatures doesn’t have a notably rich history, as it debuted during DC’s New 52 relaunch in 2011....

We learned last week that a second Apple employee has been accused of stealing trade secrets from the company’s Project Titan research into self-driving car technology.
