Apple has just posted the latest iPhone 7 ad on their YouTube channel today, entitled ‘Balloons’ for obvious reasons. The video follows a balloon throughout various scenes as it eventually finds it way to other balloons, and into someone’s window. It’s only clear at the end that the ad spot is for the iPhone 7 with the balloon tie-in promoting the new Messages features on iOS 10. At first glance the ad looks like a potential showcase for the iPhone 7’s wide color gamut display, something that has been lauded as being record-breaking and one of the best performing displays ever tested....

Wrapping up the year, Apple is out today with its latest chart for 2022, this time for Fitness+. Now available in the app are the best workouts from the last 12 months plus holiday workouts/meditations, and a new Artist Spotlight series featuring Bruce Springsteen. Apple is celebrating the two-year anniversary of its fitness service and the end of the year with a new top workouts list. Handpicked by Apple Fitness+ trainers, the favorites include workouts from almost every category including strength, core, HIIT, yoga, pilates, cycling, rowing, treadmill, dance, and meditation....

Apple has recently updated its online support portal on Apple.com with a more modern look and feel. The new design puts easier access to support for each of Apple’s products, with large images and clean lines. The older design (screenshotted below) was much more boxy and cluttered. In the old layout, customers would have to click through to ‘All Products’ to get help about more obscure products. With the new design, the infinitely scrolling carousel puts everything on the portal homepage....

The iPhone-Dev team dashed avid jailbreakers’ hopes with a morning post (via Ars) explaining that with iOS 5 Apple upped the ante in its cat-and-mouse game with the jailbreak community. According to the team, starting at iOS 5 and onward you will no longer be able to use iTunes to restore to previous firmware versions using saved SHSH blobs (created with tools such as Cydia or TinyUmbrella). Previously, jailbreakers always had peace of mind knowing they could revert back to a previous firmware should anything go wrong....

A few weeks after Apple was granted a European trademark on the key design elements of its retail stores, the company has been awarded a U.S. patent on the iconic glass cube design of its Fifth Avenue store in Manhattan. Steve Jobs is one of those credited as an inventor. Patently Apple reports that Apple also applied for a trademark for the design back in 2010, but no decision has yet been made on that....

Apple today has started offering another round of bonds to help pay for shareholder dividends and its stock buyback program. The latest offering will be for a total of $5 billion. Bloomberg reports that Apple’s latest $5 billion worth of bonds will be offered in four parts. A source close to the matter suggested the 30-year security portion of the bond may offer a ROI just a bit above Treasuries....

Apple today has released notable updates to its Keynote, Pages, and Numbers applications across both iOS and macOS. The updates add new features including additional style options, face detection, and more. One of the most notable updates across the board is that Apple is now using face detection to “intelligently” position subjects in photos in placeholders and objects. The CW is very quickly becoming television’s home for comic book television. In addition to their DC Comics slate (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and now Supergirl), the CW also airs iZombie, based on the Vertigo series of the same name, and has just announced they’re picking up Riverdale, a high school drama based on characters from Archie Comics. After being rejected by Fox, the Riverdale pilot quickly became a favorite over at the CW, where the Greg Berlanti-produced show has now been given a full season order....

The official @Apple account is one of many high-profile accounts to have been hacked this afternoon as part of the Bitcoin scheme. Apple has just announced that it will release its earnings report for the third quarter of fiscal 2022 on Thursday, July 28. As usual, the company will release its Q3 2022 earnings report, then hold a conference call with investors and analysts to provide more detail. Apple’s Q3 2022 covers the months of April, May, and June. Last quarter, Apple reported $97.3 billion of revenue – an increase of 9% year over year....

A small request for the Apple Store app … I mentioned recently dropping into an Apple Store to see whether they might be able to replace my broken Watch on the spot. It turned out they couldn’t, as they all need to go to the repair depot even when it’s obvious that a replacement will be needed. That disappointment aside, it was a relatively painless experience … Despite the online booking system often showing no appointments available for around a week, they had some walk-in slots on this occasion....

Everyone’s favorite hockey puck “hobby” has received a huge software update today. Apple TV 6.0, which has been in beta testing since June, brings with it iTunes Radio, AirPlay from iCloud, iCloud Photos and Videos (replacing Photo Stream), iTunes Music Store, and conference room mode. AirPlay from iCloud, which mirrors Google’s Chromecast, is a feature that must be turned on from the Settings. Once enabled, it allows you to “use your iOS device to play videos from iTunes in the Cloud”, which means the content is streamed directly to Apple TV rather than your iOS device....

The tvOS 13 update for Apple TV set-top boxes rolled out yesterday, and now Apple has started rolling out the new ‘under the sea’ screensavers produced in coordination with the BBC. There are ten new underwater ‘Aerial’ screensavers offering a beautiful look at corals, shoals of fish, and generally stunning imagery of sea life. You can find the new wallpaper videos on your Apple TV if you use the Aerials screensaver, which now incorporates panoramic vistas, space shots taken from the ISS, and the underwater clips....

Apple has just announced its fiscal Q1 2015 earnings call will take place on January 27 to report earnings for the three months ending in December of last year. . Update: AAPL has briefly dipped below 400 and continues to trade around that mark. This morning, Apple’s stock has reached its lowest levels per share since late 2011. Since the beginning of 2012, Apple’s stock has rallied all the way up to over $700 per share, but since the end of the 2012, the stock has gone through a downward spiral. Today, the stock is trading at a little over $400 per share, with a daily low of $400....

Apple today has rolled out updates to a pair of its iOS applications.
