As OS X Mountain Lion’s launch nears, Apple has informed developers to start submitting their optimized Mac App Store software for review. OS X Mountain Lion launches later this month with 200 new features. A complete, “Golden Master” version of OS X Mountain Lion was released to developers earlier today, and this is the build that we expect Apple to provide customers with this month. The update will cost $19.99 for Snow Leopard and Lion users, and it will be available via the Mac App Store....

Apple TV+ is posting more viewership stats, with the company announcing that the just-gone weekend saw viewership on the platform rise by 33% to set a new record (via Deadline). The record numbers for the service come as the company launched its latest original film, “Palmer” starring Justin Timberlake, on Friday. In addition to Palmer, Apple is currently airing new episodes of Dickinson and Servant; two of its high-profile launch shows....

Apple today has quietly updated its Beats Pill+ app with support for the iPhone X’s display. The update is the first to come to the app since October of last year and brings it to version 1.7. The only change in this update, according to the release notes, is iPhone X display support. In fact, the app hasn’t seen any notable updates apart from bug fixes and support for additional languages in the last 3 years....

Aquaman was a much bigger box office hit than anybody anticipated. At this point last year, the DC Extended Universe was in bad shape, left reeling from the critical and commercial disaster that was Justice League. The long-awaited team-up film was marred by a rocky production (which has been extensively covered already) and ended its theatrical run as the lowest-grossing entry in the young franchise. Whatever goodwill was generated by Wonder Woman was essentially thrown away, leaving many people to contemplate what the future would hold for DC....

Earlier this week, we reported that Apple was planning changes to its One to One program, which offers setup and training assistance to iOS and Mac users. The majority of the changes we reported included in-store changes like new, shorter half-hour sessions, and the renaming of “workshops” to “group sessions.” However, we also told you that the One to One members website would get a redesign scheduled to roll out as early as May 15....

Apple has just seeded the latest beta of iOS 8.3 to its public beta users. The first beta was sent out just under two weeks ago. The build is also available over-the-air to developers, making it the fourth beta for those users. It’s also available on the iOS developer center. Along with the new iOS beta comes a new Xcode beta. The Xcode 6.3 beta comes with a build number of 6D554n and includes support for Swift 1....

After sharing a series of new Apple Pay Cash advertisements last week, Apple has kicked off this week with three new Apple Watch videos. These videos come as part of the company’s “Close Your Rings” ad campaign… Each of these videos highlights a specific Apple Watch user who is staying motivated to “sit less and move more” with their device. The first video follows Atilla, who wears his Apple Watch to track his progress throughout the day while swimming, running, shopping, and much more....

Apple earned the top spot in a new corporate reputation study by Harris Poll (via TechCrunch). It awarded Apple with a corporate reputation quotient of 85.63, which is enough to displace a second-ranked Google with a score of 82.82. Only eight companies earned an RQ score of 80 or above that denotes “excellent reputation.” Apple’s achievement is even more noteworthy knowing Google ranked as last year’s most reputable corporation. Facebook and Intel did not appear on the list this year at all....

Apple is rolling out a small update to the Apple Store application for iPhone and iPad today. The update brings the app to version 5.14, and it includes new features for watching product videos, as well as a new lists feature. Head below for the full details. During a presentation with advertisers, CW Network president Mark Pedowitz announced that the network would be expanding its content offerings to new multimedia devices. This strategy will include a spot as an app on the Apple TV set-top-box’s home screen. The network confirmed this to MacRumors: Notably, as noted in the above quote, the CW content will be ad-supported. CW currently streams its content to software on Microsoft Windows devices such as the Xbox....

Further bolstering the presence of third-party social networks in iOS, Apple is testing deep LinkedIn integration for the upcoming release of iOS 7, according to code-based references found inside of the first beta of iOS 7. The code points to a single-sign-on system, similar to how iOS integrates Facebook and Twitter, for LinkedIn accounts. The references also indicate that users will be able to easily post content, such as Web links, to LinkedIn via a share-sheet or through iOS applications…...

Apple TV+ has won the rights to hot Sundance film ‘CODA’, which premiered at the film festival on Friday. The film received a warm reception from early viewers and critics. As reported by Deadline, a bidding war for the film raised prices to a new record for Sundance film, with Apple securing the deal for $25 million. At $25 million for worldwide rights, that makes Apple’s purchase of CODA the biggest deal ever to take place at Sundance, beating out last year’s $22....

Apple TV+’s first British production, the comedy series ‘Trying’, has been renewed for a third season. Season two of the show, which stars Rafe Spall and Esther Smith as the lead couple, will debut on May 14. Trying is a light-hearted comedy that explores the process of adoption. The series will debut its sophomore season episodes on a weekly basis, whereas the first season was dropped all at once on May 1st, 2020....

In addition to Bloomberg joining the Apple TV channel lineup today, a handful of other channels were added as well. Sony’s Crackle service offers a number of television shows and movies without any subscription cost. The new Watch ABC channel features a number of hit TV shows from the broadcaster including the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D series, but requires a subscription from a service provider including AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Google Fiber, Verizon FiOS, and others....

tvOS 15 rolled out this week and we finally get to see the new batch of Apple’s stunning Aerial screensavers, rolling out to the Apple TV set-top box. In fact, this update brings an additional sixteen slow-mo landscapes into the screensaver rotation … The new aerials feature beautiful shots of Patagonia, Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon. There are 4, 7 and 5 videos of each location, respectively. This is a big jump up from the zero new additions in tvOS 14 last year....

It is what is on the inside that counts, right? All Apple Watches are the same under the skin and Casey Neistat, semi-famous for other Apple launch videos, decided he was going to turn his $399 Apple Watch into a $399 Apple Watch with gold spray paint on it. The idea is that passersby would think it was an Edition, and all that comes along with that, I guess. To be honest, the spray paint better matches the “Aluminum Gold” iPhones, iPads and now MacBooks but I have to imagine the button/crown and some of the sensors will take a hit....

That’s why the Women’s Cricket team in Australia is leveraging the Apple Watch and a special app to quantify training in real time. Each athlete’s effort is captured both on and off the field including mood and sleep data, with preventing injury from overtraining a major goal of the initiative. The special app used to enhance performance and reduce the risk of injury was made for the Apple Watch by the Australian Institute of Sport....
