Alongside releasing its new iPhone Xs, Xs Max and XR, Apple has updated is AppleCare+ protection plan. For an additional cost, customers can now opt for lost and stolen coverage. Apple has also introduced monthly payment options for both the standard and new AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss plan. The price of standard AppleCare+ for iPhone XS and XS Max that includes two-year coverage, including accidents is priced at the same $199 that we saw with the iPhone X last year....

AppleTogether, a solidarity group that grew out of the #AppleToo campaign, has taken issue with Bloomberg’s characterization of what happened at the Cumberland Mall store in Atlanta. The news organization variously said that Apple Store staff in Atlanta had “withdrawn” or “canceled” its bid to unionize … The formation of AppleTogether Things began in August of last year when then Apple engineer Cher Scarlett carried out a salary survey that indicated that men were paid more than women for the same roles....

Aquaman has passed Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice at the North American box office, becoming the second-highest-grossing DCEU movie domestically. Starring Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, Aquaman opened to a healthy $67 million when it dropped over the Christmas holiday. There was of course a time when the thought of an Aquaman movie was considered a joke, and indeed the idea was even lampooned on the HBO series Entourage (with help from James Cameron)....

Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held next week (June 4–8) in San Jose. WWDC is the biggest event of the year for Apple, where they announce major new OS releases for all platforms. In preparation for the event, Apple has just released a new update for its official iOS app. This new version includes the schedule for the event with funny placeholder session names, which should be updated as soon as the keynote is over on Monday....

Update: Bloomberg adds more to WSJ’s report from earlier claiming that Apple’s new radio service will be tightly integrated with its iAd business. The report says Eddy Cue is currently making changes to the iAd business to support the new radio service scheduled to launch later this year alongside iOS 7: We’ve heard no shortage of rumors on the rumored iRadio streaming service from Apple that has taken on some new urgency after Google released a similar service at Google I/O last month (and plans to launch it on iOS soon)....

In a statement, Apple said that its upcoming App Tracking Transparency rules will be applied to all developers equally, worldwide. This follows reports that the state-backed Chinese Advertising Association had developed workarounds and was encouraging adoption of ‘CAID’ identifiers as an alternative, if the user opts out of allowing IDFA collection. App Tracking Transparency (ATT) is multi-faceted. At a technical level, it requires an app to show a permissions dialog and get explicit consent from the user to collect what is called an IDFA identifier....

Today, Apple has seeded the first beta build of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.1 to developers. The build number is 12B13 and it is available from the Mac Developer Center web portal. Apple says that the initial 10.8.1 seed has zero known issues. However, Apple asks developers to focus on testing Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange in Mail, PAC Proxies in Safari, SMB, USB, and WiFi and Audio when connected to the Apple Thunderbolt Display....

Following the release of iOS 15.2.1 earlier this month, Apple on Thursday stopped signing iOS 15.2 for all iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad models. This means that users can no longer downgrade their devices to iOS 15.2. iOS 15.2 was released to the public on December 13, 2021, with a few notable changes, which include Apple Music Voice Plan, new App Privacy Report in the Settings, safety alerts for children using Messages, Digital Legacy, and more....

Apple is readying to launch new Apple Card monthly payment plans, similar to what it introduced at the end of 2019 for iPhone. On the last quarterly earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook teased that the program would expand to other products soon. According to Bloomberg, the new financing will let customers buy products including iPad, Mac, Apple Pencil, Pro Display XDR on their Apple Card in monthly instalments, over 12 months at 0% interest....

Following the announcement of the iMac M1 earlier this year, Apple confirmed that only some of the colors would be available for demonstration and purchase at Apple Retail Stores around the world. However, it seems that the company will finally offer all the iMac colors in its physical stores to customers starting next week. Apple has been having a good time with its Mac lineup, as the company began switching from Intel processors to the more powerful Apple Silicon chips last year. Specifically talking about MacBooks, the company shipped 6.5 million laptops in Q3 2021 — and according to Strategy Analytics, the MacBook Air was responsible for driving this number. Up to now, Apple’s custom silicon-on-a-chip (A10 Fusion, A9, A8 etc) have relied heavily on GPU designs from Imagination Technologies for graphics performance tasks. This means Apple pays Imagination a royalty for every iPhone and iPad sold; the company generates about its revenue from Apple. Today, Apple announced that it will stop using Imagination Technologies intellectual property within two years, ending its royalty payments. $IMG stock plummeted in wake of the news, falling by 70% to eight-year lows....
