Following the release of iOS 14.0.1 to the public last week, Apple has just stopped signing the first iOS 14 release build. That means users who have updated their devices to iOS 14.0.1 can no longer downgrade to iOS 14.0. iOS 14.0 was released on September 16 after almost a three-month beta period. The update brings a major redesign to the home screen with widgets, App Library, and other new features....
Apple has formally announced the relocation of their Beverly Center retail store to a larger and more modern location inside the Los Angeles shopping mall. The new store is located on the same floor as Apple’s existing location. “An inspired move,” reads a message posted to Apple’s retail website. “Come see us at our new location on June 9th at 10:00 a.m.” The new store follows several months of low-key construction work inside the mall, hidden from view by a large, black temporary wall....

Apple today posted an update to its App Store review guidelines document for developers. The updated information pertains directly to App Store subscriptions, SiriKit, and iMessage apps including Sticker Packs. Previously, clarification about what developers could and could not do with regard to the new subscription enhancements announced just prior to WWDC 2016 was a bit ambiguous, but with today’s document update, guidelines become a lot more black and white....
Apple has updated its homepage with tributes from fans received at a special email address rememberingsteve@apple.com. The company says that over a million fans worldwide wrote to express their feelings regarding the company’s late co-founder who died October 5 at his home at the age of 56, just a day following the iPhone 4S media event. Apple is reportedly planning to ship the first successor to the Apple Watch sometime next year around the second or third quarter, according to Chinese media source UDN. The report cites comments made during a meeting with Barry Lam, chairman and founder of Quanta Computer, an Apple Watch manufacturer. While it’s no surprise that Apple would be planning to introduce the Apple Watch 2 in 2016, a third quarter release would mean a launch two years after the first model was introduced and roughly a year and a half since it went on sale....
The Apple Watch Series 7 has brought about huge updates in terms of design to the flagship smartwatch series by Apple. Easily the most noticeable upgrade from previous iterations of the Apple Watch has been the larger display, squeezing all the way to the edges. Compared to the Series 3, the new Apple Watch Series 7 has a 50% larger display in the same chassis, that’s just nuts. Apple Watch Series 7 was announced at Apple’s September special event along with the iPhone 13 lineup and the new iPad models. However, unlike its siblings, Apple Watch Series 7 is not available to customers – and there’s no word from Apple on when it will be. According to Jon Prosser, the next-generation Apple Watch is expected to hit stores in October. Prosser shared a report on Tuesday based on “multiple sources familiar with the release” who told him that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be released to customers in mid-October....

A video shootout between the iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 found a number of interesting differences between them. Apple had a small surprise for its retail employees yesterday. After gifting them with urBeats earphones last week, Eddy Cue yesterday sent a video message stating that they would also receive a promo code for a free 9 month Apple Music subscription. MacRumors reports that the subscription runs for nine months. Warner Bros and DC Films unveiled new footage from the Aquaman movie during their San Diego Comic-Con 2018 panel today. A live-action Aquaman solo movie has been a long time coming, especially considering the fact that the character has been around for over 75 years and was only first adapted into live-action on the big screen last year’s Justice League, not counting the brief cameo in Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice....
Apple has teamed up with some of the sports world’s most notable professional athletes in order to test the upcoming “iWatch’s” fitness capabilities in intense training environments, according to a source with knowledge of the testing. This source says that Apple has invited athletes from the MLB, NHL, and NBA to its Cupertino-based campus on multiple occasions over the past several weeks to brief the players on the upcoming wearable device and provide an opportunity for testing to be conducted in professional conditioning environments....
Following Greenlight’s win in court earlier today against Apple, both Greenlight and Apple have issued statements on the matter. CNBC (1, 2, 3) has tweeted bits of these statements: Apple is obviously disappointed in the ruling, but seems to accept that shareholders will not be able to vote on Proposal #2. This proposal is for Apple shareholders to have to vote for Apple to issue preferred stock shares. -Apple says due to today’s court decision, shareholders will not be able to vote on Proposal #2....
Apple doesn’t offer truly individualized customization of its products or interfaces to its users, and if anyone wants to customize the look of their Apple products – specifically their home screens – they’re in for A Time. With iOS 16 coming in September, there’s an opportunity for Apple to give consumers needed autonomy. The only cell phones I’ve ever owned have been a Nokia (shoutout to Snake, my first love), a Blackberry, and an iPhone, none of which I’ve ever fully customized....

The preorders for the phone open at 5 AM Pacific Time. The iPhone SE is Apple’s latest addition to the iPhone family. Similar to last year’s introduction of the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, Apple will release three new ‘iPhone 11’ models this fall. The new iPhones will feature the Apple A13 chip, internally known by its platform codename Cebu, model T8030. According to people who’ve seen the devices, all three iPhone 11 models will still feature a Lightning port, contrary to some speculation that they would be moving to USB-C after the change on iPad Pro last year....
