A forecast published today by market intelligence company Gartner suggests that Apple’s combined market share of mobile phones, tablets and PCs will grow from just under 10 percent to over 14 percent by 2014 – shipping almost 3m devices this year, and rising to over 3.5m next year. Gartner is predicting that while PC sales will fall 10.6 percent year-on-year, and phones grow at a modest 4.3 percent, tablets will grow 67....
Following the launch of Apple Music on Android earlier this week, Apple today has revealed that it is officially shutting down the Beats Music service on November 30th. According to a support document shared on the Beats Music website, all subscriptions will be cancelled on that date, with users being asked to migrate to Apple Music. In the support document, Apple, of course, touts that all of the features Beats Music users have grown accustomed to are present on Apple Music....
Apple today began informing legacy TestFlight users that the services on TestFlightApp.com will no longer be available after February 26th, 2015. Apple bought the popular software testing distribution service through its acquisition of Burstly almost a year ago, and announced plans at WWDC 2014 to roll out its own version of the service in the future. Apple’s streaming service, Apple TV+, today released the official trailer for its next movie premiere, The Sky is Everywhere, an adaptation of the YA novel by Jandy Nelson. The Wall Street Journal reports that the limited initial roll out of the Apple Watch was slowed by supply manufacturing issues concerning the Taptic Engine. The report claims that after mass production of the device began in February, reliability testing showed that some of the Taptic Engines supplied by AAC Technologies Holdings began to break down after use. The Taptic Engine was created by Apple to produce the sensation of being tapped on the wrist as a less intrusive way of notifying the user....

Apple is about to begin charging users outside of their warranty for online chat support using a new web payment system it recently developed. Apple collector and podcaster Stephen Hackett announced a new project today aimed at documenting the long evolution of macOS software design. The Aqua Screenshot Library is a meticulously compiled database of over 1,500 images cataloging every major release of macOS since September 2000’s Public Beta. Apple has announced that users can no longer setup iTunes Allowances for kids from today, ahead of a complete shutdown of the iTunes Allowances program on May 25th, 2016. iTunes Allowances let parents set up monthly credit for their kids to spend on App Store and iTunes Store purchases. In an email to affiliate users today, Apple said that it will be increasing Apple Music commission rates to 100%, which is twice as much as before. In conjunction with that move, however, Apple is also decreasing iTunes Music affiliate rates. Members in the program will earn a one-time bounty when users convert from a three-month trial to a full subscription, regardless of subscription type. Apple also states that commission for iTunes Music will drop from 7% to 2....
