Apple today has made the Apple Watch available to potential customers in Malaysia. All three tiers of the device are available, including the Sport, stainless steel, and Apple Watch Edition. As usual, the prices are tiered between each level with 38mm and 42mm variants being available. The Apple Watch Sport starts at RM 1,599 for the 38mm model and increases to RM 1,849 for the 42mm variant. The stainless steel model starts at RM 2,499 for the 38mm model and increases to RM 2,749 for the 42mm model, both with a sport band....

Apple has reversed a prior policy requiring iPad purchasers to pay with a credit or debit card at Apple Retail Stores. The company reversed the policy after coverage from KGO San Francisco’s consumer reporter after Diane Campbell was turned away from a San Francisco Apple Store when she tried to pay cash for her iPhone. Apple senior vice president of retail Ron Johnson told KGO, “We heard about this, you know… we all would love people like Diane [Campbell] to get an iPad, so I called her up and she was very excited and we’re actually on our way to deliver an iPad to her house....

Jason Momoa’s Aquaman confuses the Entourage cast in a funny new clip released by HBO in celebration of the nearing release of the Warner Bros. project. Directed by James Wan, the film puts Arthur Curry (Momoa) at the forefront of the DCEU with his origin movie. With just a couple of days left before Aquaman debuts in theaters across the country, Warner Bros.’ marketing machine is working hard to make sure that it gets as much press as possible....

In many ways, it’s surprising that audiences have not yet had a chance to see Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman battle evil in a standalone movie. Perhaps this is due to the character’s past animated and live-action television realizations in which his crime-fighting potential has been overlooked in favor of emphasizing his ability to speak to dolphins and generally swim around a lot. It’s reasonable to think that mainstream audiences likely don’t know much about Aquaman and aside from his brief onscreen arrival in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, the character simply hasn’t had enough quality screen time to showcase who he is and what he can do....

Currently, The CW has three comic book adaptations airing on the network all taking place in the same shared universe - Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow. Greg Berlanti, the architect behind the network’s DC Comics TV universe, has also brought the Girl of Steel to life over on CBS with Supergirl. Apple Stores are reportedly putting new repair policies in place. French publication iGen (translated) reports that the company is allowing iPhones with third-party batteries to be worked on by Apple’s Geniuses. Up until now, Apple has typically refused to repair or work on iPhones with non-original components like batteries. Apple on Tuesday announced that it has filed a lawsuit against NSO Group, which is known for developing the advanced spyware “Pegasus” to attack and surveil users of iOS and Android devices. The company claims that it is suing the creators of the spyware to “prevent further abuse and harm to its users.” Pegasus was developed with governments and law enforcement agencies in mind since the NSO Group does not sell the spyware to regular users....

Apple has started a new iPhone advertising campaign centered around potential switchers who currently use Android or other platforms. Apple highlights superior performance, camera quality, privacy, and other factors in appealing to potential new iPhone customers. The ad campaign currently includes five short clips seen below that compare the iPhone experience through music, speed, photos, and more. Apple and UCLA are teaming up on a new three-year study to understand how factors including sleep, physical activity, heart rate, and daily routines can play a role in depression and anxiety. As first reported by CNBC, UCLA will use data collected by iPhone, Apple Watch, and the Beddit sleep tracker. The study begins this week. UCLA made the announcement today, explaining that 150 participants have been recruited from among UCLA Health patients....

Apple is in the process of leasing a 40,000-square-foot office space in the Kaufman building in New York City, located at 100-104 Fifth Avenue, reports New York Post. It will be the company’s first-ever executive office in the city, another indication of Apple’s growing influence in the world and booming business. Earlier this month we reported that Apple had changed its developer marketing guidelines after years of only allowing images of the black iPhone in marketing material. Since Apple’s new lineup of iPhones features a number of new colors for the device for the first time, we noted that Apple tweaked its guidelines to allow other colors of the device, including white and certain iPhone 5c colors. Apple has updated Final Cut and Logic Studio, issuing its Pro Applications Update 2010-02. The update offers improved versions of Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4, Color 1.5, Compressor 3.5 and Qmaster 3.5, but most changes affect Final Cut Pro. Real time compatibility with Sony XDCAM HD422 Log and Transfer compatibility with Sony NXCAM SD. Control-G not closing the correct gap in the Timeline under the playhead. Apple just released amazing new updates to the MacBook Pro, and unsurprisingly, the company’s pro apps team has corresponding updates to Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro ready to go. Particularly of interest are the new updates to Final Cut Pro, which focus heavily on 8K video workflows and bring new native support for tracked motion graphics, along with compatibility with Cinematic mode videos shot on the iPhone 13. Interesting: it seems the first big deal component Apple may manufacture with its newly-licensed LiquidMetal alloys (beyond that SIM card remover shipped with iPhone before) isn’t the body or the antenna — it’s the battery! Cult Of Mac has the story, explaining a published fuel cell patent which uses Liquidmetal as part of the internal component of a fuel cell. The patent “describes “amorphous alloy” collector plates for fuel cells, an electrochemical battery that uses hydrogen to generate electricity....

Apple just reported record earnings for Q2 2021, but the company is also warning of supply shortages affecting the Mac and iPad lineups. Speaking to analysts during Apple’s earnings call, CEO Tim Cook explained that Apple did not see supply constraints in Q2, but that will change for Q3. As for how Apple avoided supply constraints in Q2 2021, despite an industry-wide chip shortage and record demand for iPad and Mac, Cook explained:...

After missing the annual Thanksgiving and New Year events, Apple is kicking off its first Apple Watch Activity Challenge in 2019 early next month. Apple’s February Activity Challenge will kick off February 8th and run through Valentine’s Day. The challenge rules will echo last year’s event, but the reward will be updated including new animating sticker designs.
