Apple has released the third beta of macOS Monterey to developers today. The release comes after beta 2 fixed a wide range of bugs and included new screensavers, wallpapers, and some other minor tweaks. We’ll be on the lookout to see if the anticipated Universal Control feature is live in the third beta. Apple continues to highlight the iPhone 13’s camera improvements, and this time the company has shared a fun video called “A Dozen Eggs” that shows the iPhone 13 Pro’s camera in action. Of course, as the name suggests, the video is all about eggs. The 1-minute clip shows different scenes shot with an iPhone 13 Pro, and each one features… eggs. Parts of the video were edited with stop motion technique, while there are also scenes shot with macro mode....

Along with Apple quadrupling its recycling program, the company today shared its 2019 Environmental Responsibility Report which details the progress its has made over the last year. Among its results include a 35% reduction in carbon footprint over the last three years, progress towards its goal of a mining-free future, and more. Apple updated its home page today highlighting some of the environmental achievements it has made over the last year along with its full 2019 progress report....

Apple today unveiled a new webpage teasing the upcoming Black Friday shopping holiday. On the webpage, Apple touts that it will be holding a “one-day event” this Friday, much like other retailers do. Apple, however, has largely stayed out of Black Friday in recent years, instead opting to offload the responsibility of slashing prices to retail partners. If this webpage is any indication though, it seems like Apple might be preparing to reenter the Black Friday game this year…...

Apple has been planning to roll out a new initiative that will allow customers to order most products through the Apple online store then pick up their purchases at their local Apple Store. MacRumors described the program yesterday, and now we’re hearing it’s going live tonight/tomorrow (depending on your time zone) in the San Francisco area. The pilot program will reach other parts of the Bay Area within the next couple of days or so, and will gradually make its way throughout the United States over the upcoming weeks and months....

Apple TV+ today announced that its high-budget sci-fi series Foundation will premiere on September 24, debuting the first three of the ten total episodes in the first season. Foundation is based off of Isaac Asimov’s novels of the same name. The show was first teased more than a year ago as part of WWDC 2020. Update: Apple has now filed a second lawsuit, this one revealing that Masimo was given access to confidential information and source code. It accuses the company of infringing five Apple patents. More details at the bottom of the piece. A lawsuit filed by Apple yesterday accuses medical tech company Masimo of creating an Apple Watch clone, in the form of the W1 Advanced Health Tracking Watch. Masimo rejects the claim, and says that Apple is merely retaliating for its own lawsuit alleging patent infringements by the Cupertino company …...

Apple Watch‘s fall detection feature has likely saved another life. This time, Apple’s wearable auto dialed 911 after a young couple hiking in New Jersey fell off a cliff and landed on the rocks in a river below. As reported by Business Insider, James Prudenciano and his date Paige Paruso were out hiking in Hartshorne Woods Park in New Jersey last week. James said that it was getting dark and was tough to see....

It will be four years since the original when Aquaman 2 hits theaters, which may seem like a long time - but there are some very good reasons for the wait. Warner Bros. and DC Films found their biggest success yet with the release of Aquaman. The James Wan-directed underwater adventure saw Jason Momoa reprise his role as Arthur Curry, and it is now the highest-grossing DC movie of all time....

Apple has officially launched its Black Friday promotions in the United States. As usual, the company isn’t offering straight cash discounts on any of its products, but rather rewarding customers with an Apple Store gift card with select purchases. You can get up to a $150 gift card with your purchase, but that hardly compares to deals we’re seeing elsewhere. Claris, the Apple subsidiary formerly known as FileMaker, has announced the beta launch of its new Claris Connect platform. According to the company, Claris Connect allows powerful integration with third-party apps and services to help businesses automate workflows. Claris Connect is an integration and workflows service that uses a graphical interface, allowing developers to create workflows of different complexity levels by simply stitching together third-party services. That means there’s no need for custom coding, with Claris Connect automatically handling the back-end configuration across the third-party applications....

Apple has been investing a lot in augmented and virtual reality since the introduction of its own ARKit API. However, when it comes to open standards on the web, Apple is still far behind its competitors. In the opinion of industry insiders, the company “has been a drag on innovation in WebAR,” as Safari still lacks support for the WebXR API. As reported by Protocol, industry experts have been complaining about how difficult it is to deliver AR and VR content to iPhone and iPad users over the web....

Scott Forstall is onstage at the Apple media event right now introducing a new iOS app called “Cards” that allows you to “create and mail beautiful cards right from your iPhone or iPod touch.” It comes with over 21 template designs for greeting cards. Interestingly, Apple will provide you with high quality prints of your greeting cards mailed to you on 100% cotton paper....

As the hours roll around in each timezone, Apple Watch owners are discovering a new easter egg to celebrate the New Year on their wrists. When the clock strikes twelve, the Apple Watch watch face lights up with animated fireworks. Apple Watch does a similar thing for a user’s birthday, overlaying balloons on the watch face when the calendar matches the user’s birthdate. Both the birthday and New Year celebrations have been quietly introduced with watchOS 4, so this is the first opportunity for Apple Watch owners to see the newly-added New Years animation....
