Like he has done before, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Phil Schiller has taken to his Twitter account to share a new report highlighting a much higher amount of security threats on Android compared to iOS. Schiller linked to Cisco’s 2014 annual security report covering mobile malware trends over the last year, which happens to highlight a rise in malware on Android as one of its key takeaways: That 71% encounter rate for web-delivered malware on Android mentioned above compares to just 14 percent for iPhone users, according to the report....

The Apple Watch Series 4 ECG functionality expanded to Europe just last week, but it’s already being credited with saving a user’s life. As detailed by The Sun, an Apple Watch user in Germany discovered that he suffered from Afib through his Apple Watch, after initially writing the ECG feature off as something only “for hypochondriacs.” The unnamed Apple Watch user in Germany sent an email to Dr. Michael Spher of Germany’s FAZ newspaper....

Just one week after the release of iOS 15.6.1 to all users, Apple has stopped signing iOS 15.6. As a result, users can no longer downgrade iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch software from iOS 15.6.1 to iOS 15.6. Apple appears to be looking to further improve the iTunes Radio service through the $30 million acquisition of a radio application called Swell, Re/code reported early Monday morning. Unlike the $3 billion Beats Electronics (and Beats Music) buyout, however, this purchase centers more on talk radio than music. Swell currently carries news from sources such as NPR, ABC, ESPN, the BBC, and more, and uses a user’s listening history to create personalized content playlists....

Apple has rolled out some new channel additions to the Apple TV set-top box this morning. Both FOX NOW and CNBC have joined the Apple TV lineup. Both channels appear to require a cable subscription to unlock the content within. However, some episodes and clips are available without providing subscription credentials. The CNBC channel supports viewing live broadcasts from the business-focused station as well as viewing previously aired shows and content....

Last month, Apple updated its Design Resources to include new iOS 12 elements. Now, the company has released even more new resources, including AppKit UI elements, watchOS elements, and more. As Apple announced in a post on its developer blog, today’s new Design Resources include a full set of “essential” AppKit UI elements for designing Mac apps in Sketch or Photoshop. Further, the company says today’s update includes “dozens” of new UI elements for watchOS apps, complications, and more....

All the new iPhone 12 models come with MagSafe, which is a technology that uses magnets on the backside of the phone to let users attach accessories to it. Apple today updated its Accessory Design Guidelines to include more details on how accessory manufacturers must implement MagSafe technology in their products. Aquaman has not started filming yet, but its stars are hard at work preparing for the rigors that will come with their roles. Star Jason Momoa starts shooting his scenes in a few months, but he’s already training with martial arts experts and fight choreographers to mold him into the best Aquaman possible – for the action scenes, anyway. Co-star Amber Heard has also been seen in a recent training video at 87Eleven Action Design, which has performed various services for recent action hits like John Wick and Jurassic World....

Apple has pushed the first beta build of OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 out to AppleSeed users and developers. The update has a build number of 14C68k and weighs in at 422 MB. Last week the company released version 10.10.1 to the general public. Apple hasn’t provided any indications of what’s new in this beta and has not listed any particular focus areas, though it’s possible this could be a hotfix update to address any lingering Wi-Fi glitches that didn’t get fixed in the most recent patch....

Over the weekend, Apple shared four new ads holiday-themed ads for the Apple Watch. The ads originally debuted last month, but only hit Apple’s YouTube channel this weekend. The ads are shorter in style, coming in at between 10 to 15 seconds in length. The first ad is entitled “Go Play” and depicts the Apple Watch Sport being unboxed and worn during soccer, with the Activity app used for fitness tracking....
