In another effort to boost its own streaming service, Apple has signed an overall deal with writer and director Sam Catlin, who is expected to develop and produce new television projects for Apple TV+. The deal was reported on Tuesday by Variety. According to the news, Catlin will work with Apple along with his partner Tiffany Prasifka under the Short Drive Entertainment brand. The content that Catlin and Prasifka will develop there is unknown at this time, but it will likely include original movies and TV shows for the Apple TV+ platform....

Apple TV doubled its share of premium viewing in just three months, from 5% in Q4 2014 to 10% in Q1 2015, according to data from the Adobe Digital Index. Roku’s share increased by only 1% in the same time period, from 7% to 8%. Principal analyst Tamara Gaffney told TNW that Apple’s growth was unprecedented. Why the spike? Apple dropped the price of the Apple TV to $69 and it grows a few new channels every month but the survey didn’t offer any guesses....

An Apple lawyer told Reuters today that the Cupertino, Calif.-based Company wants to go to trial over allegedly working with five other publishers to raise the prices of eBooks. A few analysts already said that Apple has a good chance of winning in court, which is most likely why Apple will not choose to settle and will instead fight it out. Apple TV+ today announced that its upcoming thriller ‘Suspicion’ will debut on February 4, 2022 with its first two episodes. The remainder of the eight-part series will roll out weekly. Suspicion stars Uma Thurman, Kunal Nayyar, Noah Emmerich, Georgina Campbell, Elkes Gabel, Elizabeth Henstridge, Tom Rhys-Harries and Angel Coulby. Wizards of the Coast has revealed new details about its video game development studio, which is now called Archetype Entertainment, and it’s working on a multi-platform science fiction RPG. The announcement of a video game studio owned by Wizards of the Coast was made last year when it was revealed that veteran designer James Ohlen would be in charge and that he would be working on something that wasn’t associated with Dungeons & Dragons or Magic: The Gathering, which are the two biggest properties associated with the company....

Just after its opening keynote this afternoon, Apple released OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 4 (build 12A239) and Server Preview 5 (build 12S254j) to developers. After being updated with support for Apple Watch last month, the Apple Store app on iOS has been updated today with a pair of highly requested features. With today’s update, which bumps the app to version 3.3, users can now use Touch ID to view orders, access EasyPay receipts, and make reservations at retail locations.
