While this is definitely a surprising development, it is pretty exciting. A Trench movie opens the door to a new world of comic book movies, where monsters can headline films instead of superheroes....

Destroying ships and blasting open crates is one way to get ammo in Aquanox: Deep Descent. Enemy ships will sometimes drop bullets, rockets, and other ammo types when they’re destroyed, which you can find floating in their wreckage. These show up on your mini-map as a row of bullets, missiles, or shotgun shells. You can also break open crates that are found on the seafloor, cliffs, and other outcroppings. Sometimes these are found alongside scannable wreckage....

With an estimated half a million sites vulnerable to the “Heartbleed” vulnerability revealed earlier this week, which allows an attacker to access user details of websites previously believed to be secured by industry-standard SSL/TLS, your favorite social networks, stores, and other services around the web could potentially be handing out your password or other personal information to anyone who exploits the issue. The bug exists in a library called OpenSSL, which is an open-source SSL implementation that many—but not all—web services use to secure sensitive traffic....

MacRumors posts that Apple is getting rid of boxed software in its stores this morning. They quote this line from a previous 9to5mac post: Sure, you may ask about software that can’t be put in the App Store. Like Apple’s OSes for instance. Or Hard Drive utilities. Or Creative Suite. Or any software that doesn’t fit in the App Store for one reason or another. That’s a good question because those products are on Apple’s store shelves now and there doesn’t appear to be a quick replacement....

We’re less than an hour away from WWDC 2019, where Apple is expected to unveil major enhancements to the iPad. Ahead of the event, Apple has updated its Apple Developer Program License Agreement with new references to iPadOS. Apple has today shared trailers for two more of its original content TV shows airing on Apple TV+ when the service launches on November 1. Ghostwriter and Helpsters were previously announced for the launch lineup but trailers were not yet released. These previews are now available to watch on tv.apple.com. Ghostwriter is a reboot of an American children’s mystery series from the 90’s. The series is based around four kids who team up to solve mysteries as a huanted bookstore releases fictional characters into the real world....

According to a report from Reuters, Apple is apparently under investigation in Italy related to unpaid taxes on more than $1.34 billion. The report quotes a “a judicial source with direct knowledge of the matter” and noted that the investigation is currently underway with authorities in Milan. Reuters notes that Italian authorities in June handed down prison sentences and hundreds of million in fines for unpaid taxes to fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana....

Apple has rolled out three new graphics card modules for the Intel-powered Mac Pro today. The new graphics card modules include the Radeon Pro W6800X MPX Module, the Radeon Pro W6800X Duo MPX Module, and the Radeon Pro W6900X MPX Module. As first reported by Jake Krol of CNN on Twitter, Apple says that these new graphics modules can offer up to 23% faster performance in DaVinci Resolve and 84% faster in Octane X....

Apple has updated Logic Pro X for Mac to version 10.2.3 and added new audio features and design improvements to the pro audio editing software. The update also has a focus on Chinese instruments much like recent GarageBand updates. Retina display users will appreciate hi-res support for seven more plug-ins, and the update delivers the usual performance improvements as well. As for the Chinese focus, Logic Pro X now includes three new Chinese instrument patches: pipa, erhu, and percussion....

Apple’s mobile payment platform Apple Pay launched in 2014 and has since been rolling out to additional countries, retailers, and banks around the world. In a new interview at Fortune’s Brainstorm Reinvent, Apple Pay head Jennifer Bailey offers more color on the payment platform. In the interview, Bailey explains that Apple isn’t trying to replace credit card providers with Apple Pay. Instead, it wants to create a “great customer experience” based around the payment options that customers already use and enjoy:...
